Jack Nicklaus’ Yacht Settles In Singapore, To Be Shown at Boat Asia 2012 -- Haute Living

A luxury yacht that once belonged to prolific golf star Jack Nicklaus just settled into its new home in Singapore, joining a growing number of yachts in the city.

The $11.8-million yacht houses a golf museum that pays tribute to Nicklaus’ career and contains his major championship trophies and other golf memorabilia. The Sea Bear, named after his golf moniker Golden Bear, is docked at the One Degree 15 Marina Club. The 130-foot vessel is set to be the star attraction of the Boat Asia 2012 event, which takes place April 12 through 15 at Marina@Keppel Bay.

My Comment: He sold it last year .... that must have been a tough decision for him to do. As to the buyer of the boat .... it would not surprise me if he (or she) is an avid golfing fan.

(CNN) -- Maintenance, upkeep and near endless running costs; the many pleasures of owning a superyacht are punctuated by some less than glamorous realities.

For the wealthy ocean enthusiast who seeks a luxury ocean vacation without the responsibilities of proprietorship however, there is another option -- chartering your own private superyacht.

"Last year we chartered to Bill Gates," says Neil Cheston, director of sales and charter at specialist yacht broker, Y.CO. "The founders of Google also now both have yachts that charter," he adds.

Missing Palau Plane: Billionaire Paul Allen’s Super-Yacht Joins The Search Flotilla -- Inquisitr

Paul Allen, the billionaire Microsoft co-founder, has graciously lent his super-yacht and two helicopters aboard the vessel to search for a missing plane carrying two Palau police officers and one American pilot. The plane disappeared over the weekend after pursuing a large Chinese boat which was involved in an illegal poaching operation in a Palau marine reserve.

Allen’s 414-foot yacht comes equipped with a remote-controlled submersible, two helicopters, and a submarine. The yacht is named the Octopus and was sailing in the region in support of James Cameron, the film directory who recently took to an expedition to explore the depths of the Mariana Trench which is located just a little ways off from Palau.

Sailors Injured After Mammoth Wave Hits Racing Yacht Arrive In San Francisco Bay -- CNN

(CNN) -- Two sailors injured when their 67-foot racing yacht was damaged by a colossal wave pulled into San Francisco Bay on Monday, less than a day after being rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Around 3 p.m., the Coast Guard cutter Bertholf carrying the pair was clearly visible and minutes away from docking in Alameda, according to Isabel Hokken, a spokeswoman for the Clipper Round the World Race that the yacht was participating in. Located just south of Oakland, Alameda is home to an island that houses a Coast Guard station.
