The 8 Most Expensive Yacht Purchases Of All Time

No billionaire is complete without a superyacht of his or her own. In fact, a November report from Wealth-X and the UBS Global Billionaire Census found that the average billionaire spends $22 million on yachts.

The latest study from Wealth-X ranks the most expensive luxury asset acquisitions of all time, and it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that eight of the top ten purchases were yachts.

Wealth-X uses a proprietary valuation model to assess all asset holdings including privately and publicly held businesses and investible assets to develop their Net Worth Valuation.

A Sailing Stunt That You Should Never Do On Your Boat



'It's The Most Stupid Thing I've Ever Done': British Yachtsman Performs Outrageous Stunt Running UP A 100-Foot-High Yacht Before Launching Himself Into The Ocean, While Dressed In Designer Suit -- Daily Mail

* Alex Thomson undertook incredible exploit in the seas close to Cadiz in southern Spain
* The sailor clambered up the 30-metre mast and plunged into the ocean
* The stunt took expert sailing technique and perfect conditions before it could be achieved

A British daredevil who ran up the 30-metre mast of his boat as it hung above the ocean at a 60-degree angle has described the the incredible stunt as 'the most stupid thing I've ever done'.

Alex Thomson, 37, clambered over ropes and rigging to reach the top in 16 seconds, before calmly putting his sunglasses in his pocket and plunging into the ocean near Cadiz in south-western Spain.

And as if the stunt wasn't impressive enough, the round-the-world yachtsman also did it in a stylish black suit.
